Eastern Naval Command personnel gain operational insights

A programme to share operational insights for naval personnel of the Eastern Naval Command was held at the Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee on 9 September 2026.

The programme aimed to enhance the professional knowledge, operational understanding, and leadership capabilities of young officers and sailors by sharing first-hand insights and lessons learned from past humanitarian operations.

Initiated by the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet, Rear Admiral Dhanesh Pathberiya, the event featured presentations by senior officers who have past operational experiences. Among them were; the Deputy Chief of Staff and Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Buddhika Liyanagamage, Rear Admiral Pathberiya, and the Commanding Officer SLNS Gajabahu, Captain Arosha Jayathunga.

During the session, the resource personnel shared their operational experiences, focusing on exercising effective leadership under challenging conditions, maintaining morale, making decisive decisions, and upholding professionalism during operational settings.
