Australian Defence College delegation visits Navy Headquarters

A delegation from the Australian Defence College visited Navy Headquarters today, 8 September 2026, as part of an academic study tour in Sri Lanka.

The delegation, comprising student officers from the Defence Strategic Studies Course (DSSC), was led by Colonel Adam Geoffrey McGuinness.

During the visit, Colonel McGuinness and senior officers of the delegation called on the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Damian Fernando, for discussions on training-related matters. Following the meeting, the visiting student officers attended a briefing on the role and operations of the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) and SLN’s hydrographic capabilities.

Defence Adviser at the Australian High Commission in Sri Lanka, Colonel Amanda Johnston, also attended the event. Mementos were also exchanged between Vice Admiral Fernando and Colonel McGuinness to mark the importance of this occasion.
