Sri Lanka Navy Inter-command Swimming and Water Polo Championship - 2022 was held at SLNS Gemunu from 17^th to 19^th November 2022. The Training Command emerged champions in both men’s and women’s events, showcasing their talent in water sports.

Navy weightlifters exhibited some scintillating performances at the National Weightlifting Championship 2022 worked off at the National Sports Complex, Polonnaruwa from 10th to 13th November 2022. Accordingly, the Navy clinched the title in women’s category and the runner-up title in men’s category. In addition, the Commonwealth medalist Leading Seaman DMIC Dissanayake bettered his previous best by lifting 136kg (Snatch).

The men’s team of Sri Lanka Navy emerged champion in handball at the 12th Defence Services Games 2022/23. The tournament was held on 09th 10th and 11th November 2022 at the ‘Airport Sports Complex’, Minuwangoda.

Sri Lanka Navy rowers won gold and silver medals in the 37th Senior National Senior Rowing Championship -2022. The event organized by Amateur Rowing Association of Sri Lanka was held at the Diyawanna Lake in Baththaramulla on 04th and 05th November 2022.

Sri Lanka Navy’s Women Able Seaman Nisansala Sandamali won a bronze medal in the Combaxx 4th Asian Taekwondo Open Championship 2022, held in Islamabad, Pakistan on 03rd November 2022. She contested in the 67 kg weight class with a player from Nepal in the Combaxx 4th Asian Taekwondo Open Championship which is considered for player ranking.

The sailors of Sri Lanka Navy secured the 02nd and 03rd places in the ‘RCYC Commodores Race-2022’ organized by the Royal Colombo Yacht Club at the Bolgoda Lake on 29th October 2022.

The Navy men’s and women’s teams became the runners up in tug of war at the 12^th Defence Services Games. The tug of war tournament was held at the Air Force grounds in Katunayake on 26^th and 28^th October 2022 and the final encounter was held between the men’s and women’s teams of the Army and Navy.

The 12^th Defence Services Games was officially declared open by the Secretary of Defence, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) at the new indoor stadium of Panagoda Army camp on 19^th October 2022. The ceremony, which marked the beginning of several weeks of competitive sportsmanship among tri-services, was attended by Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne.

The 08th Carrom World Championship -2022, organized by International Carrom Federation (ICF), was held in Langkawi, Malaysia from 03rd to 07th October. Representing Sri Lanka at the world stage, Navy’s Able Seaman Nishantha Fernando and Woman Able Seaman Joseph Roshita won silver and bronze medals respectively.

Navy Sports Club (SC) won the ‘Plate’ Championship of Inter-Club Rugby 7s – 2022 held at the Racecourse ground on 08th and 09th October 2022. Accordingly, Navy SC defeated Army SC 26-10, playing some outstanding sevens rugby.
