Training Command sweeps Triathlon Championship 2025

The Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee provided a stunning backdrop for the Inter-Command Triathlon Championship 2025, concluded on 08 November with Training Command emerging as the overall champion in both the men's and women's categories.

The event was flagged off at the scenic Sandy Bay Beach by the Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Ravindra Tissera. A total of 57 athletes from across all Naval Commands demonstrated endurance and grit in the competition for coveted title.

The men's event comprised a 750-meter open water swim, a grueling 20-kilometer cycling segment, and a 5-kilometer run, pushing sailors to their limits.

In a display of outstanding athleticism, following achievements were made by naval personnel;

Men’s event

• 1st place: Able Seaman ADTL Munasinghe (Eastern Naval Command)

• 2nd place: Ordinary Seaman EMS Warnakulasooriya (Training Command)

• 3rd place: Ordinary Seaman RBPL Bandara (Training Command)

Women’s event

• 1st place: Woman Ordinary Seaman APGHN Premasiri (Training Command)

• 2nd place: Sub Lieutenant PAGKS Bandara (Training Command)

• 3rd place: Woman Able Physical Training Instructor DSM Nishsanka (Training Command)

Moreover, Lieutenant Commander UMWG Kumara of the Training Command also secured 1st place in the event for over 40 men’s.
