Navy's aquatic pride on display at Inter-Command Swimming and Water Polo Championship

The Inter-Command Swimming and Water Polo Championship 2025 was held from 04 to 07 November at the swimming pool of SLNS Gemunu, drawing spirited participation from all Naval Commands. The event showcased exceptional aquatic talent and sportsmanship among naval personnel.

In the swimming championship, Fleet Command claimed the men’s overall title, while Training Command emerged champions in the women’s category.

Meanwhile, in the water polo championship, Eastern Command triumphed as men’s champions, and the women’s water polo title was also won by Training Command.

Outstanding individual performances were recognized as follows:

Swimming Championship

• Best Swimmer (Men): Sub Lieutenant KNT Perera (Fleet Command)

• Best Swimmers (Women): Lady Cadet WMDK Bandara and Woman Ordinary Seaman PNN Piyasiri (Training Command)

• Best Veteran Swimmer: Chief Petty Officer KAS Kumara (Northwestern Command)

• Best Novice Swimmer (Men): Recruit PGKD Jayarathna (Eastern Command)

• Best Novice Swimmer (Women): Woman Ordinary Seaman KWN Maduhansani (Training Command)

Water Polo Championship

• Best Player (Men): Sub Lieutenant MDNL Ilukpitiya (Eastern Command)

• Best Player (Women): Woman Ordinary Seaman ALUK Kumari (Training Command)
