Navy kicks off glory with football men’s championship and women’s runner up title at 13th Defence Services Games
The Navy men’s football team emerged victorious at the 13th Defence Services Games, securing the championship title. Additionally, the women’s football team also secured the runner up title. The tournament, which brought together elite footballers from across the armed forces, was held from 02 to 10 May 25 in the Navy soccer ground, Welisara.
In the final encounter, the Navy edged out their Army counterparts 01 – 00 to secure the championship. The Navy women’s team played with the Air Force and secured the runner up slot.
Among the star performers, Ordinary Seaman IM Safran was adjudged the Best Player of the Tournament, while Ordinary Seaman MKM Ishan earned the title of Best Goalkeeper, both demonstrating exceptional skill and commitment throughout the championship.
