IPSC Rifle Nationals Level III – 2025 concludes in Poonewa on successful note
The much-anticipated International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) Rifle Nationals Level III – 2025, organized by the National Rifle Association and initiated by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, conducted as a spectacular four-day event from 06th to 08th Mar 25. Held at the Naval Firing Range in Poonewa, the tournament drew top-notch competitors and judges, both local and foreign, showcasing thrilling marksmanship. The prize awarding ceremony, held at Malima Naval Rest, Mihintale, was graced by Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), alongside the esteemed presence of the Tri-Service Commanders.
The competition attracted 213 local marksmen from 12 clubs which included Tri-Services, Police, and civilian clubs. In addition, 03 marksmen from the Philippines participated, marking the event's first inclusion of international competitors. The championship was overseen by expert Range Masters, including two international officials from the Philippines and Singapore, who worked alongside local judges to ensure fair and professional evaluation.
The Defence Secretary and Tri-Forces Commanders awarded the tournament champions with medals and trophies, as the Navy clinched impressive second-place finishes in both the Semi-Automatic Standard Team Overall and Military Team categories.
