Navy cyclist Leading Seaman Prasanga wins 1st leg of Guwan Hamuda Papedi Sawariya 2025
In a thrilling exhibition of stamina, Leading Seaman DAS Prasanga of the Sri Lanka Navy clinched victory in the first leg of the Guwan Hamuda Papedi Sawariya 2025, organized for the 26th time by Sri Lanka Air Force in view of its 74th anniversary. From 28 Feb to 02 Mar, the race unfolded across three legs. During the first leg, stretching from Weerawila to Ratnapura, Navy cyclist Prasanga emerged victorious, clinching a win for the Navy.
This 408-kilometer cycling race, spanning from Weerawila through Ratnapura, Kandy, Kurunegala, and Katunayake, concluded at Galle Face with 166 cyclists taking part. The event featured participants from the Tri-Forces, Police, top cycling clubs across the island, and international cycling teams.
In the tournament, Able Seaman PPPMG Silva of the Navy also clinched second place in the third leg, covering the route from Kandy to Colombo. Additionally, the women's cycling team of the Sri Lanka Navy emerged as the runners-up in the race segment from Mirigama to Colombo.
