Navy triumphs as men's co runner-up in 13th Defence Services Archery Championship

The 13th Defence Services Archery Competition concluded successfully at the Air Force Ground, Katunayake on 17th and 18th December 2024. The Navy men's archery team secured the co-runner-up title, while the Navy women's archery team claimed third place in the event.

In the 70m recurve men's single event, Leading Seaman PT Warusavithana clinched the gold medal with an impressive performance. In its men's team event, Leading Seaman PDN Gunaratne, Leading Seaman KSM Karunaratne, and Able Seaman RA Ruwanthissa secured the silver medal, showcasing excellent teamwork. Additionally, Petty Officer RMMP Premaratne, Leading Seaman KGP Krishantha, and Leading Seaman PT Warusavithana earned the bronze medal in another thrilling event.

In addition, Chief Petty Officers WHKG Weerasinghe, Leading Seaman HNNK Gunaratne, and Able Seaman BDGC Jayasekara secured the bronze medal in the 50m compound men's team event. Meanwhile, Petty Officer RMMP Premaratne and Woman Leading Seaman SHN Roshani claimed the bronze medal in the 70m recurve mixed team event.

In the 70m recurve women’s team event, Leading Seaman SHN Roshani, Able Seaman GPC de Silva, and Able Seaman TN Sandamali secured a bronze medal, showcasing their exceptional skill and teamwork in the competition.
