Navy wins men's team championship in table tennis at 13th Defence Services Games

The Navy showcased an exceptional performance to secure the men’s team championship at the 13th Defence Services Games Table Tennis Championship, held from 26th to 28th November 2024 at the Army Indoor Stadium in Panagoda.

Ordinary Seaman HP Warushavithana secured third place in the Open Men's Singles category, while Leading Seaman PDIP Silva claimed first place in the Men's Singles (Over 40) division. In the same event, Captain Chandana Samarakoon earned third place.

Captain Chandana Samarakoon and Leading Seaman PDIP Silva clinched the championship title in the men’s doubles category for players above 40 years. In the mixed doubles event, Ordinary Seaman HP Warushavithana and Woman Ordinary Seaman SBYMNS Siuratne secured third place. Meanwhile, in the open men’s doubles, Leading Seaman PDIP Silva and Ordinary Seaman HP Warushavithana emerged as the runners-up.

Woman Ordinary Seaman SBYMNS Siuratne and Woman Ordinary Seaman DH Colombage secured third place in the women’s open singles and doubles categories, respectively, at the tournament. Meanwhile, Lieutenant Commander Anuradha Perera and Lieutenant Commander Achini Karunaratne also clinched third place in the women’s singles and doubles events in the over 30 age categories.
