Navy bags handball men’s championship at Defence Services Games
The 13th Defence Services Games handball championship took place at the Panagoda Army Camp indoor stadium from 14th to 18th October 2024. The Sri Lanka Navy secured the men's title with outstanding performances throughout the tournament.
The Sri Lanka Air Force hosted this year's handball championship, where the Navy secured a spot in the finals after defeating their Air Force rivals. In a thrilling final match against the Sri Lanka Army, the Navy claimed the championship title with a 42-41 victory.
For their exceptional performances, Navy’s Petty Officer WR Weerasinghe (Best Attacker), Petty Officer Physical Training Instructor WHP De Silva (Best Defender), Leading Seaman TS De Silva (Best Goalkeeper) and Leading Seaman KMRSS Bandara (Best Player) won awards.
Officers and other ranks from the tri services and a group of athletes were also present on this occasion.
