Inter-Command Table Tennis Tournament concludes on successful note

The Inter-Command Table Tennis Tournament – 2024 was held at the Commander Parakrama Samaraweera Memorial Indoor Sports Complex, SLNS Gemunu from 02nd to 05th July 2024. Demonstrating their outstanding table tennis prowess, the men’s and women’s championship titles were won by the Western Naval Command.

The four-day event united nine men's teams and seven women's teams from all naval commands, fostering sportsmanship and friendly competition. The final day of the tournament was graced by Deputy Area Commander Western Naval Area, Commodore MDK Wijewardena.

The Western Naval Command clinched the men's title, with the Eastern Naval Command finishing as the runner-up. In the women's competition, the Western Naval Command triumphed for the seventh consecutive time, while the Training Command secured the runner-up position.

The award for emerging player of the tournament was won by Lieutenant DMCA Jayasekara from the Eastern Naval Command.

Director Sports Commodore Waruna Ferdinandusz, Naval Officer in Charge (Welisara) Commodore Prasad Jayasinghe, senior officers and a group of officers and sailors from naval commands were present on this occasion.
