Northern Naval Command triumphs as champions in Inter-Command Tennis Tournament 2024

The Inter-Command Tennis Tournament 2024 of the Sri Lanka Navy was held at the Naval and Maritime Academy Tennis Courts from 22nd to 29th June 2024. Recording noteworthy performances throughout the tournament Northern Naval Command emerged as champions and the North Central Naval Command won the runner-up title.

The tournament was competed by a number of tennis players from Naval Commands. In Novices Category the championship was won by Able Seaman (Physical Training Instructor) HLNM Kusumsiri and Lieutenant Commander Nihal Rathnayake became the runner-up.

Meanwhile, Commodore Malan Perera and Captain(E) MADDM Piyathilaka won the title in over 50 Doubles as the second place of the event was won by Rear Admiral Chandima Silva and Captain Ranjith Walgampaya. In Open Doubles the championship was secured by Petty Officer (Physical Training Instructor) NJR Hemakumara and Leading Seaman (Physical Training Instructor) PMSL Perera and the runner-up slot was clinched by Commander Duminda Dayananda and Lieutenant Commander KHMWLB Abeysinghe.

The prize awarding of the Inter-Command Tennis Tournament 2024 was held under the patronage of Deputy Area Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jagath Kumara. Officers and sailors from the Eastern Naval Command were also present on this occasion.
