Navy athlete Gayanthika Abeyrathne wins silver medal in women’s 1500m at Taiwan Athletics Open 2024

Woman Petty Officer Gayanthika Abeyrathne of the Sri Lanka Navy on 01st June 2024 made her country proud by winning a silver medal in women’s 1500m at the Taiwan Athletics Open 2024 held in Taipei.

Woman Petty Officer Abeyrathne finished the race second, with a time of 4 minute and 24.66 seconds, bringing a lot of credit to the Navy and motherland.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, who also serves as the President of the Navy Sports Board, places significant emphasis on sports by providing facilities and specialized training for Navy athletes. These contributions have been instrumental in enabling Navy athletes to achieve success on the international stage.
