Southern Naval Command wins inter - command women's six-a-side softball championship

The inter - command women's six-a-side softball tournament was held at the cricket ground Welisara on 10th and 11th February 2024. The championship title of the tournament was clinched by the Southern Naval Command. The final of the tournament was graced by the Chairman Sri Lanka Navy Cricket Committee, Rear Admiral Damian Fernando.

The final encounter of the tournament was between the Southern Naval Command and the Western Naval Command. Batting first, the Western Naval Command scored 64 all out in 05 overs. In reply, the Southern Naval Command scored 65 for the loss of 02 wickets in 4.5 overs and clinched the championship.

Meanwhile, Woman Leading Physical Training Instructor SIH De Silva (Best Batsman) from the Western Naval Command, Woman Recruit KGKV Ranaweera (Best Bowler) from the Southern Naval Command, Woman Recruit WANA Weerapperuma (Player of the Match) from the Southern Naval Command and Woman Recruit KGKV Ranaweera (Player of the Tournament) from the Southern Naval Command won awards for their notable performances.

Director Sports, Commodore Waruna Ferdinandez and naval personnel from each Naval Command were also present on this occasion.
