Inter-Command Volleyball Championship 2024 concludes with victories to Eastern and Western Naval Commands

The Navy Inter-Command Volleyball Championship – 2024, held from 18th to 22nd February, concluded with thrilling matches at SLNS Tissa. The Eastern Naval Command emerged as the champion in the men's category and in the women's category, the Western Naval Command displayed its dominance.

The tournament was participated by a large number of volleyball players from each Naval Command. Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva, as the Chief Guest, graced the finals of the tournament. In the men's final, the Eastern Naval Command and Northwestern Naval Command went head-to-head in a thrilling contest where the Eastern Naval Command won the game 3-1. Lieutenant DES Jayakody was adjudged the Best Player of the tournament.

With a score line of 3-0 in the final, the Western Naval Command women's team secured the championship against the Eastern Naval Command in a dominant fashion. Woman Able Physical Training Instructor WGLC Sepalika won the award for the Best Player (women).

Deputy Area Commander Eastern Naval Area and Commandant Naval and Maritime Academy, Commodore Buddhika Liyanagamage and a group of officers and sailors were also present on this occasion.
