Navy becomes overall champions in Nippon Women’s Rugby League 2023/24

The Sri Lanka Navy became the overall champions in Nippon Women’s Rugby League 2023/24, 10-a-side tournament, held from 08th December 2023 to 18th February 2024.

The final encounter between the Army and Navy women ruggerites was held at the CR & FC Ground, Colombo on 18th February. In the final game, Woman Ordinary Seaman KPDP Sathsarani and Woman Leading Seaman AHS Madumali helped the score of the Navy, through a try and a conversion. On conclusion of the game, the Navy that was leading the table was adjudged the overall champions of the tournament.

Meanwhile, the Navy’s Woman Ordinary Seaman KPDP Sathsarani was awarded as the emerging player of the tournament. The Chairman of Navy Rugby Pool, Commodore Sanath Pitigala and a group of officers and sailors were also present on this occasion.
