Navy men’s and women’s teams win runner-up titles in Golden Cup Handball Tournament

The men’s and women’s teams of the Sri Lanka Navy won the runner-up titles in Golden Cup Handball Tournament, organized by Best Friend Ever sports club. The tournament was held at the Kingsley T Wickramaratne Ground in Kaduwela from 31st January to 03rd February 2024.

The tournament, which witnessed the participation of 12 renowned handball teams, showcased intense matches and remarkable performances. In the men's final, the Navy faced a formidable opponent in the Army, resulting in a nail-biting encounter that concluded with a narrow score of 24-23. The women's final featured another captivating showdown between the Air Force and the Navy and the final score was 31- 13.

Adding to the accolades, Leading Seaman HAD Hettige and Woman Leading Seaman HMS Sathsarani stood out as exemplary players, earning trophies for the best defender in both the men's and women's events, respectively.
