Navy dominates ‘CMYC Team Racing GP 14’ and ‘QEQ Sailing Challenge Trophy Open Race – 2023’ with multiple wins

The Sri Lanka Navy sailing teams secured many wins at ‘CMYC Team Racing GP 14’ and ‘QEQ Sailing Challenge Trophy Open Race – 2023’ held in the alluring waters of Bolgoda Lake on 26th and 27th August 2023.

Renowned sailing clubs from the country took part in the sailing competitions, which featured a combination of individual and team events. Teams from RCYC, Future Fiber and CMYC were contenders in the 'CMYC Team Racing GP 14' event that took place on 26th August. Additionally, two teams (A and B) representing the Navy also participated in the competition. Showcasing their sailing prowess the Navy team B and A won the first (1st) and third (3rd) places respectively in ‘CMYC Team Racing GP 14’. Further, Leading Seaman AMJP Aththanayake and Leading Seaman ASK De Soyza were recognized as the Best Pair in the competition.

In addition, the ‘QEQ Sailing Challenge Trophy Open Race - 2023’ was held on 27th August with the attendance of a number of sailing teams. In this competition, Petty Officer PDDS Rajapaksha won the first (1st) place. Moreover, Petty Officer WAS Weerathunga and Leading Infantryman GPP Karunarathna won the second place.
