Western Naval Command wins Inter-Command Women's Six-a-Side Softball Cricket Tournament

The Inter-Command Women's Six-a-Side Softball Cricket Tournament 2023 was held at the Navy cricket ground, Welisara on 26th and 27th June 2023. The Chairman Sri Lanka Navy Cricket Committee, Rear Admiral Jalaj Ponnamperuma graced the final of the tournament as the Chief Guest.

The final encounter of the tournament was between the North Central Naval Command and the Western Naval Command. Having won the toss, the Western Naval Command opted to bat first and scored 69 in 05 overs. In reply the North Central Naval Command only managed to score 19 runs in 03 overs, losing all their wickets.

Meanwhile, Woman Ordinary Seaman WDIS Dias (Best Batsman) from the Western Naval Command, Woman Ordinary Seaman LHMOL Kumari (Best Bowler) from the Southern Naval Command, Woman Ordinary Seaman GVSS Gamage (Best Fielder) from the North Central Naval Command, Woman Ordinary Seaman KPM Perera (Player of the Final) from the Western Naval Command and Woman Ordinary Seaman LHMOL Kumari (Player of the Tournament) from the Southern Naval Command won awards for their notable performance.

The occasion was also attended by the Director Sports, Commodore Roshan Athukorala, senior officers as well as a group of officers and sailors from each naval commands.
