Navy becomes runner-up in 12th Defence Services Golf Tournament – 2023

The 12th Defence Services Golf Tournament – 2023, hosted by the Sri Lanka Navy, was held on 01st and 02nd April 2023 at the Eagles' Golf Links China Bay, Trincomalee. The Navy comprising of some of the finest golfers put up a valiant effort and won the runner-up title.

The tournament was held under 03 categories namely; Team (Men’s/ Women’s), Open and Over 45 Open, and 13 officers and 09 sailors of the Sri Lanka Navy competed in those events.

In over 45 age category, nine (09) senior officers including Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera competed and played their hearts out. Accordingly, Captain Mangala Mummullage won the championship in over 45 age category. Playing exceptionally well in the tournament Ordinary Seaman MHC Pushpika won the award for ‘Longest Drive’.

Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana graced the prize warding ceremony where he presented trophies to the Air Force and the Navy who emerged as champions and runners-up respectively.

Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, Commander Eastern Naval Area and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara as well as a group of officers and other ranks of the tri-services were present on this occasion.
