New Volleyball court at SLNS Thammanna declared open

The new Volleyball court constructed at SLNS Thammanna in the North Central Naval Command was declared open by Commander North Central Naval Area on a colourful note on 08th August 2020.

The new facility completed in a short span of time by naval personnel of the Command Civil Engineering Department and SLNS Thammanna will henceforth help further improve sporting abilities of naval personnel attached to the command. Moreover, the playing field which has been constructed in accordance with accepted standards will be readily available for the game both in day and night time, as it has also been facilitated with floodlights.

To mark the opening of the new Volleyball court, an exhibition Volleyball game was played between Sri Lanka Navy and Army Volleyball teams and the players who competed in the game were presented prizes and trophies in recognition of their participation.

The event was also attended by senior officers from the Navy, Army, Police as well as Volleyball players and coaches from several schools in the area. Meanwhile, the national-level coaches and players who were present on this occasion greatly appreciated the top-notch standard of this new facility.
