The Maritime Rescue Coordinating Centre (MRCC) based in Colombo, which is manned by the Sri Lanka Navy, has alerted the Maritime Rescue Coordinating Centers in Myanmar and Bangladesh about the stranded Sri Lankan fishing boats near coasts of Myanmar and Bangladesh and requested to render possible assistance.

Sri Lanka Navy rescued four Indian fishermen and a trawler in distress west of Delft close to mid-night on 06th October 2014.

Naval craft attached to the Eastern Naval Command on routine patrol arrested 15 fishermen with 04 FGDs engaged in illegal fishing in the seas North of Pigeon Island in Trincomalee on 05th October 2014.
