During special operations conducted in the Eastern, Northern and North Central Naval Commands in the previous week, the Navy apprehended 43 persons along with dinghies and fishing gear for engaging in illegal fishing.

The search operations conducted in past few days by Sri Lanka Navy in Southern, North Central, Western and Northwestern Naval Commands, resulted apprehension of 08 suspects, 01 female suspect with heroin, Kerala cannabis and local cannabis.

The Navy with the assistance of Police apprehended a suspect with about 952kg of dried turmeric, during a special search operation conducted at Irukkulampiddi in Mannar on 28^th September 2020. Further, the consignment of turmeric is believed to have been smuggled into the country by sea routes.

The Navy and Police STF managed to apprehend a suspect for illegal possession of a shotgun, its ammunition and several other illegal items, during a special search operation conducted at 4^th Mile Post, on Puttalam main road on 23^rd September 2020.

A number of special search operations conducted by the Navy and Police in the Western, Eastern, and Northwestern Naval Commands during the past couple of days had led to the apprehension of 01 female and 09 male suspects for possession of heroin, Kerala cannabis and controlled drugs.

Naval operations conducted in the Eastern, North Central, Northern and Northwestern Naval Commands in the past week had led to the apprehension of persons along with a number of fishing gear, for engaging in illegal fishing.

The Navy is continuously supporting in the removal of obstructions at old narrow bridges of Dodangoda and Wakwella over Gin Ganga, caused by the heavy rainfall. Incidentally, naval personnel yet again sprang into action to remove debris collected under the Dodamgoda and Wakwella Bridges in Galle and cleared obstructions to the flow of the Gin Ganga at those locations.

The Navy took hold of over 32kg of Kerala cannabis, during a special search conducted at the Paramunai Island close to Baththalangunduwa, Kalpitiya on 17th September 2020.

A special operation conducted by the Navy in the sea area of Mundalampiddi, Mannar on 16th September 2020, made way to apprehend 03 suspects with over 520kg of dried turmeric attempted to be smuggled into the island.

During a coordinated operation conducted by the Navy with the Police STF, 02 suspects had been apprehended with water gel explosive in Sampoor on 16th September 2020.
