Sri Lanka Navy managed to seize about 139kg and 100g of Kerala cannabis, during a special operation conducted in northern waters off Thondamanaru, Jaffna on 19th July 2021. The consignment was dumped at sea by the smugglers without being able to fetch them ashore due to naval operations in the area.

The Navy dispatched Sri Lanka Naval Ship (SLNS) 'Sayurala' to bring ashore a seriously injured fisherman aboard a local multi-day fishing trawler. The fisherman sustained the injury following an accident, while in high seas about 610 nautical miles (1129km) off Great Basses Lighthouse, southeast of the island. Having brought the injured fisherman to Hambantota harbour, he was rushed to the Hambantota hospital for treatment by the Navy today (18th July 2021).

Sri Lanka Navy managed to seize about 103kg and 750g of Kerala cannabis, during a special operation conducted in northern waters off Kankesanthurai, Jaffna in the dark hours on 15th July 2021. The operation also led to the apprehension of 03 suspects and a dinghy in connection to the racket.

Sri Lanka Navy managed to take hold of about 2360kg of dried turmeric at the Vankalai beach in Mannar on 11th July 2021. A foot patrol conducted by the Navy in the beach area led to the recovery of the consignment which was suspected to have attempted to smuggle into the island.

A special operation carried out by the Navy in seas off the Analathivu island, Jaffna in the wee hours today (12th July 2021) led to the seizure of about 344kg and 550g of Kerala cannabis along with 03 suspects and a dinghy used for the racket.

The Navy was pressed into service to clear debris clogged under Agaliya and Dodangoda bridges over the Gin Ganga in Baddegama area, on 10th July 2021.

Sri Lanka Navy deployed 08 relief teams in several areas in the Kalutara, Rathnapura and Galle districts today (10th July 2021) to provide relief to the people, in preparation for possible flood risk in above areas with heavy rains brought by inclement weather.

A special operation conducted by the Navy in the seas north of Kovilam, Jaffna this morning (06th July 2021) led to the seizure of about 98kg and 500g of Kerala cannabis and apprehension of 03 suspects along with a dinghy.

During special operations conducted in Eastern, Southeastern, Northwestern, Northern and North Central Naval Commands in past 03 months commencing from 01st April to 30th June 2021, Sri Lanka Navy managed to apprehend 442 individuals, along with 153 fishing boats and other fishing accessories, while engaging in illegal fishing practices.

Sri Lanka Navy managed to seize about 2021kg and 400g of dried turmeric attempted to be smuggled into the country, during special operations conducted in the beach areas of Achchanakulam, Naruvilikkulam and South Bar on 29th and 30th June and 01st July 2021. The operation also made way to apprehend 06 suspects, 02 dinghies, 01 van and 01 three-wheeler in connection to these dried turmeric rackets.
