Special operations conducted by the Navy led to the recovery of over 2272kg of smuggled dried turmeric in seas off Ariyalai, Jaffna, beach areas of Kolankanaththa in Puttalam and Yahappar in Mannar on 19th October 2021. The Navy also managed to take hold of a dinghy used for this illegal act, during the operations.

Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) managed to rescue 02 fishermen aboard a sunken Indian fishing boat poaching in Sri Lankan waters across the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) northwest of the Kovilan Lighthouse in the evening of 18th October 2021. Further, Navy’s search and rescue operation is still underway to find another fisherman went missing following the incident.

The Navy took hold of about 1220kg and 700g of smuggled dried turmeric, during special operations conducted at beach of Thewampiddi in Mannar, beach area of Nachchikuda in Mulankavil and Palleimunai in Mannar on 17th and 18th October 2021. The operations also made way to the seizure of a dinghy, a three-wheeler and a suspect in connection to these incidents.

In a special operation carried out in the beach area of Mohoththuwaram, Kalpitiya on 15th October 2021, Sri Lanka Navy apprehended 02 suspects with about 1196kg and 800g of dried sea cucumber being transported in violation of license condition.

A special operation conducted by the Navy in seas east of Point Pedro and Vettilaikeni on 13th October 2021 led to seizure of 02 Indian fishing vessels poaching in Sri Lankan waters, with 23 Indian fishers aboard.

The Navy managed to take hold of over 2925kg of dried turmeric and 11kg of cardamom stocks attempted to be smuggled in, during special operations conducted in seas off Mandagalaru and Narapadu in Mannar and Pallekuda beach in Mandaitivu on 11th and 12th October 2021. The operations also led to the apprehension of 02 suspects in connection to these rackets.

The Navy pressed into action to clear a blockage under the Wakwella Bridge in Galle on 11th and 12th October 2021. This narrow bridge over Gin Ganga in Wakwella area has collected heaps of debris underside, following heavy downpour experienced during the past couple of days.

The Navy took hold of over 1477kg of smuggled dried turmeric stock, during special operations conducted in seas off Kandakkuliya in Kalpitiya and beach area of Nawadandawatta in Kondachchikuda, on 09^th October 2021.

Special operations conducted by the Navy at Deduru Oya estuary of Karukapane in Chilaw and Erukkulampiddi beach area in Mannar on 08th October 2021 made way to take hold of about 1672kg of dried turmeric attempted to be smuggled in.

Special operations conducted by the Navy in northwestern seas, Kiranchi beach area in Kilinochchi and Udayirputi Island in Kalpitiya, led to the recovery of about 1954kg of smuggled dried turmeric, on 06th and 07th October 2021.
