Sri Lanka Navy has made 35 relief teams ready in the Western and Southern Naval Commands as of now, in preparation of possible flood due to heavy rains in existence in several parts of the island.

Navy sprang into action to clear the blockages underside of Mulkada, Agaliya and Dodangoda bridges which are over the Gin Ganga in Galle, on 03rd and 04th November 2021.

Special operations conducted by the Navy on the Kakarativu Island, Jaffna on 30th October and in seas off Kudiramalai Point, Puttalam and Kuduirippu in Manner on 03rd November 2021 led to the seizure of about 4400kg stock of smuggled dried turmeric. These operations also made way to the apprehension of 08 suspects and 02 boats used for these illegal acts.

Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Coast Guard held 112 persons for engaging illegal fishing, during special operations conducted in the Western, Eastern, Northern, North Central, Northwestern and Southern Naval Commands from 01st to 31st October to 2021. The operations also led to the apprehension of 01 lorry, 26 fishing vessels and fishing accessories used for these illegal acts.

Naval operations carried out in North Central and Northwestern Naval Commands in the past 02 weeks led to the seizure of 1120 Kilograms of smuggled dried turmeric and 07 persons in possession with illegally harvested sea cucumbers.

Sri Lanka Navy managed to take hold of about 1000kg of smuggled dried turmeric during special operations carried out in the lagoon and beach areas of the Ippanthivu Island in Kalpitiya on 25th October 2021. The operations also led to the apprehension of 02 suspects and 03 fishing vessels in connection to those smuggling attempts.

The corpse of the fisherman of the sunken Indian poaching vessel was handed over to the Indian authorities at the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) this morning (23rd October 2021). A search and rescue (SAR) operation mounted by Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) led to the recovery of the body of missing fisherman who was aboard the Indian poaching vessel which sank northwest of the Kovilan Lighthouse in Sri Lankan waters in the evening of 18th October.

Sri Lanka Navy managed to take hold of over 1135kg of smuggled dried turmeric, during special operations carried out in Kalpitiya and Mannar on 20th October 2021. The operations also made way to apprehend a suspect and a cab used for the illegal transfer of turmeric stocks.

Navy rescue teams engaged in the Search and Rescue (SAR) operation this morning (20th October 2021) managed to recover the corpse of the missing fisherman of the Indian poaching vessel which sank northwest of the Kovilan Lighthouse in Sri Lankan waters in the evening of 18th October.

Sri Lanka Navy took hold of about 17kg and 700g of Kerala cannabis, during a special operation conducted in Pesalai, Mannar in the early hours of 19th October 2021.
