Navy rescues 27 more flood victims in Gampaha district
The Navy today (06th June 2021) managed to rescue 27 individuals, including children and women, affected by floods in Ja-Ela area in the Gampaha district, with the onset of showery weather condition. Upon being rescued, these persons were swiftly accommodated in safe locations and facilitated with relief measures.

Navy rescues 66 more persons victimized by flood in Gampaha and Kalutara districts
Sri Lanka Navy has deployed 33 relief tams in the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa and Northwestern Provinces to provide relief to the people affected by the floods caused by torrential rains. By this afternoon (05th June 2021), Navy relief teams have rescued to 66 more persons including children and women, affected by floods in several areas in the Gampaha and Kalutara districts and provided them relief measures.

Sri Lanka Navy rushed the severely injured fisherman to the hospital for treatment, upon he was brought ashore today (05th June 2021). The fisherman onboard a local multi-day fishing trawler had been in critical condition due to a severe injury while at high seas, about 345 nautical miles (about 638km) from the Great Basses Lighthouse to the southeast of Sri Lanka.

Navy rescues 29 flood victims in Puttalam district
The Navy has deployed 16 relief teams, including personnel from the Rapid Response Rescue and Relief Unit (4RU), covering the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa and North Western Provinces which are at risk of floods, following torrential rains in several parts of the island. Meanwhile, Navy relief teams on 04th June 2021 rescued 29 people, including women and children, who were in a desperate situation tapped by flash flood.

Navy and Coast Guard leap into action to skim furnace oil mixed with rain water from Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery
The separator tanks containing furnace oil at the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery managed by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, have overflowed with the ingress of rain water following heavy downpour. Responding to this eventuality, the Navy and Sri Lanka Coast Guard leaped into action this evening (04th June 2021) to skim the furnace oil exposed to the external environment and to prevent further spread of it.

Navy brings ashore a fisherman injured at high seas for treatment
Sri Lanka Navy today (04th June 2021) dispatched Sri Lanka Naval Ship (SLNS) ‘Sayura’ to bring ashore an injured fisherman for treatment. The fisherman onboard a local multi-day fishing trawler had been in critical condition due to a severe injury while at high seas, about 345 nautical miles (about 638km) from the Great Basses Lighthouse to the southeast of Sri Lanka. Upon retrieving the patient aboard SLNS ‘Sayura’ around 1130 hrs today, he was administered first aid by the Navy.

Navy and Coast Guard facilitate ongoing investigations into MV X-PRESS PEARL
Sri Lanka Navy today (04th June 2021) facilitated a team of government officials who is conducting investigations into the fire-hit MV X-PRESS PEARL, by transferring them onboard Sri Lanka Coast Guard Ship ‘Samudraraksha’ to the sea area where the partially submerged vessel is located.

Another smuggled consignment of dried turmeric and big onion seeds held with 06 suspects
A special search operation carried out by the Navy in the lagoon area of Wattakkalliya, Chilaw on 02nd June 2021 made way to the seizure of 362kg and 950g of dried turmeric and 571kg and 400g of big onion seeds attempted to be smuggled into the island. The operation also led to the apprehension of 06 suspects in connection to this illegal act.
