The Navy sprang into action to put out a sudden fire broke out in Digiliya Mountain Forest Reserve, Maeliya Polpithigama on the night of 27th March 2022. As of now (28th March) Navy firefighters are busy in controlling the fire from spreading to other areas.

Suspect nabbed with 1418kg of unauthorized fishing nets in Mannar

A special operation conducted by the Navy in coordination with Police in Uppukulam, Mannar on 27th March 2022, led to the apprehension of 1418kg of unauthorized (Monofilament) fishing nets stashed in a house. Meanwhile, the raiding party also held a suspect involved in this illegal act, during this operation.

Navy nabs suspect with commercial explosives in Trincomalee

A special operation conducted by the Navy in coordination with Police STF at Iranakeni in Trincomalee on 21st March 2022 made way to apprehend a suspect for transferring explosives by a motorbike. Among the items seized were 20 Water Gel sticks, a type of commercial explosive, and 25 non-electric detonators.

Navy takes hold of a stock of Kerala cannabis in Norochcholai

A special operation conducted by Sri Lanka Navy at Mampuri Beach in Norochcholai this morning (22nd March 2022) led to the seizure of about 41kg and 540g of Kerala cannabis (in wet weight), left behind by smugglers.

Navy seizes Kerala cannabis worth over Rs.52 million in Mannar

A special operation carried out by the Navy in seas off Oluthuduwai, Mannar today (18th March 2022) led to the seizure of about 175 kg of Kerala cannabis (In wet weight). The Navy also nabbed 02 suspects and a dinghy in connection to the incident.

Navy brings ashore an ill fisherman for treatment

Sri Lanka Navy rendered assistance to bring ashore an ill fisherman and transfer him to hospital for treatment on the night of 16th March 2022. The fisherman was suffering from chest pain while aboard a local multiday fishing vessel which was about 24 nautical miles (approx. 44km) east of Hambantota.

SLINEX concludes on successful note

The Sri Lanka-India Naval Exercise (SLINEX) was successfully held at the Naval Dockyard of Visakhapatnam, India and in the Bay of Bengal from 07th to 10th March 2022. Representing the Sri Lanka Navy, SLNS Sayurala took part in the bilateral naval exercise.
