Ship MT-ALTAIR rescued 05 persons in distress aboard a local multiday fishing trawler that went into a mechanical failure, while in Arabian Sea on 20th June 2022. The rescue was coordinated by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo established at the Navy Headquarters.

The Navy took hold of about 543kg (in wet weight) of Kerala cannabis during a foot patrol in Periyapadu beach, Udappuwa in the wee hours of today (19th June 2022).

A special foot patrol conducted by the Navy in Kondachchikuda beach area, Silawathura in the night of 16th June 2022 led to the seizure of a smuggled stock (about 490 kg) of Kendu Leaves, which are being used for tobacco products.

A special operation mounted by Sri Lanka Navy in the eastern seas this morning (15th June 2022) led to the apprehension of 64 persons who were suspected to be attempting to illegally migrate from the country via sea routes.

Sri Lanka Navy apprehended a local multiday fishing trawler with 38 individuals, suspected to be on an illegal migration attempt to a foreign country via sea, during a search operation carried out in southeastern seas of the island on 11th June 2022.

Sri Lanka Navy managed to apprehend 91 individuals, suspected to be on illegal migration attempts to a foreign country via sea, during separate operations carried out in Marawila and western seas on 07th June 2022.

Two separate operations mounted by the Navy in Kilinochchi, Jaffna and Allappiddi, Kayts on 03rd June 2022, led to the seizure of over 350kg of Kerala cannabis and apprehension of 02 suspects with a car.

Sri Lanka Navy this morning (01st June 2022) deployed 13 relief teams in flood-risk areas in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces to extend relief to flood victims in those areas. Accordingly, the Navy relief teams are currently working in full swing to assist affected communities in respective areas as of now.

The Navy relief teams have been sent out to respective areas to provide relief to the people who are vulnerable to flash floods, triggered due to adverse weather in several parts of the island.
