Sri Lanka Navy intercepted a multiday fishing trawler carrying about 5645.5kg of smuggled Kendu leaves, during a special operation in southern waters about 60 nautical miles (111km) off Dondra on 06th December 2021. The operation also made way to apprehend 05 suspects in connection to the incident.

A special operation mounted by the Navy in the seas off Madagal, Jaffna this morning (06th December 2021) led to the seizure of about 275kg (with wet weight) of Kerala cannabis. The Navy also managed to nab 02 suspects in connection to the incident during this operation.

Sri Lanka Navy held 85 persons for engaging illegal fishing, during special operations conducted in the Eastern, Southeastern, Northwestern, Northern, Southern and North Central Naval Commands from 01st to 30th November 2021. The operations also led to the apprehension of 24 fishing vessels and fishing accessories used for these illegal acts.

A special operation conducted by the Navy at the Shanthipuram beach in Mannar today (20th November 2021) led to the seizure of an illegally stored 7990 Water Gel sticks, a type of commercial explosive, weighing about 998.750 Kg. The Navy also nabbed 02 suspects at the location in connection to the incident.

The Navy took hold of over 1437kg of smuggled dried turmeric, during special operations conducted in the sea area of Vankalipadu and beach area of Thalvupadu in Mannar on 17th and 18th November 2021. The operations also led to the apprehension of 03 suspects and a dinghy used for this smuggling attempt.

A special operation mounted by the Navy in the seas off Sandbanks, Talaimannar this morning (15th November 2021) led to the apprehension of 03 suspects aboard a dinghy with about 03kg and 100g of Crystal Methamphetamine, known as ICE.

A special operation conducted by the Navy in the beach area of Chilaw led to the apprehension of 19 persons, at Deduru Oya estuary in Chilaw, whom were suspected to be on an attempt to migrate from the country by illegal means via sea routes in the morning of 09th November 2021. Based on information revealed from further investigation, the Navy also managed to intercept a multi-day fishing trawler suspected to have been used for this racket was intercepted in seas off Wennappuwa with five other suspects (05) in the afternoon of the same day.
