Sri Lanka Navy carried out a special operation on the night of 30th March 2022, to chase away a large number of Indian trawlers poaching in Sri Lankan waters northwest of Kovilan Point Lighthouse in Karainagar, Jaffna. In this operation, the Navy seized an Indian trawler with 03 Indian fishermen for poaching in island waters through the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL).

Sri Lanka Navy managed to take hold of about 1828kg of dried turmeric, 137kg of cardamom and 134 bottles of herbicide, attempted to be smuggled into the island, during a special operation mounted in seas off Allappiddi of the Kayts Island, Jaffna today (30th March 2022). The operation also led to the apprehension of a suspect (01) in connection to the illegal act.

Sri Lanka Navy took hold of an Indian trawler with 04 Indian fishermen poaching in Sri Lankan waters. The apprehension was made in seas south of the Delft Island during a patrol carried out on the night of 28th March 2022.

The Navy sprang into action to put out a sudden fire broke out in Digiliya Mountain Forest Reserve, Maeliya Polpithigama on the night of 27th March 2022. As of now (28th March) Navy firefighters are busy in controlling the fire from spreading to other areas.

A special operation conducted by the Navy in coordination with Police in Uppukulam, Mannar on 27th March 2022, led to the apprehension of 1418kg of unauthorized (Monofilament) fishing nets stashed in a house. Meanwhile, the raiding party also held a suspect involved in this illegal act, during this operation.

Sri Lanka Navy seized 02 Indian trawlers with 16 Indian fishermen while poaching in Sri Lankan waters, during separate patrols carried out on the night of 23rd March 2022.

Sri Lanka Navy sprang into action to assist a distressed foreign sailing boat in seas south of Hambantota and brought it to the Hambantota harbour on 22nd March 2022.

A special operation conducted by the Navy in coordination with Police STF at Iranakeni in Trincomalee on 21st March 2022 made way to apprehend a suspect for transferring explosives by a motorbike. Among the items seized were 20 Water Gel sticks, a type of commercial explosive, and 25 non-electric detonators.

A special operation conducted by Sri Lanka Navy at Mampuri Beach in Norochcholai this morning (22nd March 2022) led to the seizure of about 41kg and 540g of Kerala cannabis (in wet weight), left behind by smugglers.

A special operation carried out by the Navy in seas off Oluthuduwai, Mannar today (18th March 2022) led to the seizure of about 175 kg of Kerala cannabis (In wet weight). The Navy also nabbed 02 suspects and a dinghy in connection to the incident.
