Sri Lanka Navy this morning (01st June 2022) deployed 13 relief teams in flood-risk areas in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces to extend relief to flood victims in those areas. Accordingly, the Navy relief teams are currently working in full swing to assist affected communities in respective areas as of now.

Sri Lanka Navy has deployed 13 relief teams in flood-risk areas in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern Provinces as of this morning (01st June 2022), to provide relief to the flood victims following the inclement weather prevailing in the island.

Sri Lanka Navy deployed 06 relief teams in several places in the Sabaragamuwa and Southern Provinces as of the morning of 31st May 2022. The Navy relief teams have been sent out to respective areas to provide relief to the people who are vulnerable to flash floods, triggered due to adverse weather in several parts of the island.

Sri Lanka Navy managed to seize 02 suspicious local multiday fishing trawlers with 45 individuals, during patrols carried out in southern and western seas.

Sri Lanka Navy on 24th May 2022 pressed into action to extend flood relief to school children sitting for the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination in the Puttalam District, as they were affected by adverse weather prevailing in several parts of the island.

A special operation conducted in Sallisampaltivu and seas off Trincomalee on the night of 23rd May 2022, led to the apprehension of 67 individuals who attempted to illegally migrate to a foreign country via sea.

Sri Lanka Navy managed to apprehend 40 individuals who attempted to illegally migrate to a foreign country by sea, during a patrol conducted in seas off Batticaloa and in a special operation in the beach area of Kalawanchikudi, Batticaloa on 18th May 2022.

Sri Lanka Navy rendered assistance to bring ashore an ill fisherman and rushed him for treatment this evening (15th May 2022). The fisherman who was aboard a local multiday fishing trawler had suddenly fallen ill and was in need of medical attention, while in seas off the eastern coast.

Sri Lanka Navy as of now has deployed 10 relief teams in several areas in the Western and Southern Provinces to extend relief measures to people, in the backdrop where flood risk is likely following the inclement weather.

In a successful operation carried out in international waters south of Sri Lanka, the Navy managed to seize a haul of heroin with 07 foreign nationals on 05th May 2022. The apprehended suspects along with the stock of illegal drugs were brought to the port of Colombo this morning (09th May) by SLNS Sayurala. Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne was also present at the Colombo harbour to inspect the apprehended consignment of narcotics.
