Sri Lanka Navy sprang into action today (11th February 2023) to save a pod of whales beached on Kudawa in Kalpitiya and guide them back to the ocean.

A special search operation carried out by the Navy in Serakkuliya, Puttalam in the wee hours today (09th February 2023) led to the apprehension of 02 suspects with 239kg (wet weight) of sea cucumber and 921kg (wet weight) of shark fins smuggled into the island. During this operation, the Navy also seized 02 lorries used for this illegal act.

A combined operation mounted by the Navy and the Police Special Task Force led to the apprehension of a suspect (01) with about 10kg of Kerala cannabis and a motorcycle in Wattakachchi, Kilinochchi on the night of 06th February 2023.

The Navy apprehended 03 persons for illegal harvesting of sea cucumber, during a special operation conducted off Ippantivu, Kalpitiya on 04th February 2023. The operation has also led to the seizure of 17 conch shells, diving gear, 01 dinghy and about 671 sea cucumbers.

During a rescue operation carried out off Lankapatuna in Trincomalee today (02nd February 2023), Sri Lanka Navy rescued 04 fishermen in distress, as their fishing trawler had collided against a reef in the sea area.

A combined operation carried out by the Navy and Police in the beach area of the Analaitivu Island led to the seizure of over 12kg of Kerala cannabis on 28 January 2023.

The Navy was pressed into action to put out a sudden fire erupted at a mill in Werella area, Wattala in the wee hours of today (27th January 2023).

Sri Lanka Navy took hold of over 1447kg of smuggled Kendu leaves, during a special operation carried out in the lagoon and sea area of Negombo on 26th January 2023.

Authorities of the Réunion Island of France repatriated 38 Sri Lankan nationals to Sri Lanka by air on the evening of 25th January 2023. Reportedly, the group of Sri Lankans was apprehended as they were attempting to migrate to the Réunion Island illegally via sea.

The Navy seized more than 49kg (wet weight) of Kerala cannabis, during a special search operation carried out off the Delft Island in Jaffna today (25th January 2023). The operation also led to the apprehension of 03 suspects along with a dingy in connection to the illegal act.
