A special search operation mounted by the Navy led to the interception of a dinghy carrying Kerala cannabis weighing over 137 kg (weight weight) in the sea area off the Eluvaitivu Island, Jaffna in the dark hours of 06th November 2023. During the operation, the Navy also nabbed 03 individuals suspected of involvement in this unlawful activity.

The Sri Lanka Navy successfully dismantled a smuggling racket in the evening of 03rd November 2023, seizing about 02 kg and 150 g of gold, attempted to be smuggled from the country via sea, during a special operation mounted off Oluthuduwai, Mannar. The operation also led to the apprehension of 05 suspects, a dinghy, a motorcycle and a three-wheeler used for this illegal act.

The Sri Lanka Navy on 02nd and 03rd November 2023 cleared the blockages under the Dodamgoda and Wakwella Bridges which are over Gin River in Galle, ensuring the free flow of water downstream.

The Navy apprehended 02 suspects with a stock of smuggled insecticides, during a search operation conducted in the sea areas of Karaitivu and Palliyawatta of Kalpitiya on 29th October 2023.

A special search operation conducted by the Navy in the coastal vicinity of Vaddukoddai, Jaffna today (29th October 2023) led to the apprehension of 02 suspects with about 104kg of Kerala cannabis and a three-wheeler.

The Sri Lanka Navy conducted special operations to chase away Indian poaching trawlers from Sri Lankan waters in the evening of 28th October 2023 and this morning (29th October 2023). The separate operations led to the seizure of 05 Indian trawlers with 37 Indian fishermen poaching in Sri Lankan waters off Mannar as well as near the Delft Island, Jaffna.

The Sri Lanka Navy conducted separate operations in the Urumalai beach area of Talaimannar and at the Mandaitivu T Junction roadblock in Jaffna on 25th and 26th October 2023. The operations led to the apprehension of 07 persons for their involvement in night diving and transporting sea cucumber without valid licence. During these operations, the Navy also held 620 sea cucumbers, 01 dinghy and 01 three-wheeler.

A search operation conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy in the beach area of Keerimundalam, Kalpitiya on 24th October 2023 led to the apprehension of a suspect with about 288 kg of smuggled Tendu leaves.

Based on intelligence information received from the State Intelligence Service, the Sri Lanka Navy mounted a special operation and intercepted a drug-carrying local multiday fishing trawler on high seas about 292 nautical miles (about 540 km) south of Dondra, by deploying SLNS Vijayabahu. The intercepted local multiday fishing trawler with over 219 kg (including packages) of heroin and 05 suspects aboard were escorted this morning (24th October 2023) to the port of Colombo. The Senior Adviser to the President on National Security and Chief of the Presidential Staff, Mr. Sagala Ratnayaka and the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, arrived at the port of Colombo this morning to personally inspect the seized consignment of narcotics.

The Sri Lanka Navy took hold of 02 dinghies and 04 individuals aboard, suspected of their involvement in human smuggling, during a search carried out in Sand Dunes 3, Talaimannar on 21st October 2023.
