The Navy apprehended 12 persons who engaged in illegal fishing practices, during a special operation conducted off Kondachchikuda, Silawathura in the early hours of 29th November 2023. The operations also led to the seizure of 04 dinghies, about 1670 illegally harvested sea cucumbers as well as diving equipment.

A coordinated operation carried out by the Navy and Police on 27th November 2023 in Waththiyaran of Veththalakerni in Jaffna, led to the recovery of over 34kg of Kerala cannabis buried in a garden. During the operation, a person suspected to be involved in the incident was also arrested.

A coordinated search operation mounted by the Navy and Police in Naranthane area of the Kayts Island, Jaffna led to the apprehension of two suspects for transporting over 3 kg of Kerala cannabis on 25th November 2023. Along with Kerala cannabis being transported for sale, a motorbike used for this illegal activity was also held.

A special search operation carried out by the Navy with Police near the bus stand of Trincomalee led to the apprehension of a person for carrying ten (10) water gel sticks – a type of commercial explosive and fifteen (15) non-electric detonators on 23rd November 2023.

A special search operation mounted by the Sri Lanka Navy in the sea area near the Ippanthivu Island, Kalpitiya in the dark hours of 22nd November 2023, resulted in the recovery of about 477 kg (wet weight) of Tendu leaves adrift in the waters.

The Navy apprehended 09 persons for illegal harvesting of sea cucumber in the sea area of Arippu, Mannar, during a special operation conducted in the early hours of 20th November 2023. The operation also led to seize about 1384 illegally harvested sea cucumbers, diving gear and 03 dinghies.

A special search operation conducted by the Navy in the coastal vicinity of Sampalodai in Karainagar, Jaffna in the wee hours on 20th November 2023 led to the recovery of over 101 kg (wet weight) of Kerala cannabis.

A special search operation conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy on the Analaitivu Island, Jaffna on 10th November 2023, led to the recovery of Kerala cannabis weighing over 69kg (wet weight).

The Sri Lanka Navy apprehended two (02) suspects and seized a cache of controlled drugs, during a search operation carried out in the waters off Kalpitiya on the evening of 09th November 2023. The dedicated operation paved the way to intercept a dinghy carrying 570,000 capsules of Pregabalin, a type of controlled drug.

The Sri Lanka Navy intensified its emergency relief operations in Ja-Ela on 08th November 2023, after a flood situation caused by the overflowing of the ‘Ja-Ela Canal’, with recent heavy rainfall. Accordingly, the Navy relief teams came forward to provide immediate assistance to the affected people in the area.
