A search operation conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy in the lagoon area of Negombo on 25th March 2024, led to the recovery of approx. 600kg of Tendu leaves from a dinghy. It is suspected that the stock of Tendu leaves has been smuggled through the lagoon.

A coordinated search operation conducted by the Navy and Excise Station – Kebithigollewa led to the apprehension of a suspect (01) with cannabis mixed aphrodisiacs (madana modaka) in Medawachchiya on 25th March 2024. There were 952 packets of aphrodisiacs in his possession, without valid licence to retail.

A coordinated operation conducted by the Navy and Police STF in Uruththipuram, Kilinochchi on the evening of 22nd March 2024 led to the arrest of a suspect and seizure of over 07kg of Kerala cannabis in his possession.

The Navy apprehended 09 persons who engaged in illegal night diving in Mamunai and Nagar Kovil sea areas in Jaffna, during search operations conducted on 20th March 2024. The operations also led to the seizure of 03 dinghies, diving gear and fishing equipment used for this illegal activity.

The Sri Lanka Navy conducted separate operations to chase away Indian poaching trawlers from Sri Lankan waters in the dark hours of 20th March 2024. The operations led to the seizure of 05 Indian trawlers and apprehension of 32 Indian fishermen poaching in Sri Lankan waters off Talaimannar and near the Delft Island.

The Sri Lanka Navy conducted a special operation to chase away Indian poaching trawlers from Sri Lankan waters in the dark hours of 16th March 2024. The operation led to the seizure of 02 Indian trawlers and apprehension of 21 Indian fishermen poaching in Sri Lankan waters off the Delft Island.

The operation led to the seizure of 01 Indian trawler and apprehension of 15 Indian fishermen poaching in Sri Lankan waters off the Kovilan Lighthouse in Kareinagar.

A search operation conducted by the Navy led to the apprehension of 09 persons for engaging in light-coarse fishing off Chalei, Jaffna on 08th March 2024. During the operation, 05 dinghies and unauthorized fishing gear used for this illegal activity were also taken into custody.
