A suspect with Kerala cannabis valued over Rs. 24 million held in Jaffna
A search operation conducted by the Navy with the Police Special Task Force (STF) led to the arrest of a suspect with over 60kg of Kerala cannabis. The coordinated search was mounted in the beach area of Wallipuram, Jaffna on 08th June 2024.

Navy extends critical support in continuing flood relief efforts
Despite adverse weather conditions, the Navy's relief teams persisted in their operations on 07th June 2024, aiding those affected by the floods. Additionally, thirteen (13) more teams have been deployed to support ongoing relief efforts.

Navy's relief operations continues in full swing
In the face of inclement weather, the Sri Lanka Navy dispatched relief teams to assist communities affected by floods. These teams (36) continued their relief efforts on 06th June 2024 across various affected regions. Further, the Sri Lanka Navy played a pivotal role in several critical repair and cleanup operations. The Navy repaired the oil boom at the Ambathale water treatment plant, sweeped away by heavy rains. Additionally, the Navy removed a large tree obstructing the Hettige canal in Kaduwela and cleared debris from the underside of the Wakwella bridge in Galle.

Navy apprehends 52 persons engaged in illegal fishing
During a series of search operations conducted in Trincomalee from 04th to 06th June 2024, the Sri Lanka Navy apprehended 52 individuals for illegal fishing activities. The operations, which took place in various locations including the sea areas of Gopalpuram, Foul Point, Yan Oya Estuary of Pulmoddai, Lankapatuna, and Alampil in Mullaitivu, also led to the confiscation of 10 dinghies and unauthorized fishing gear.

A search operation conducted by the Navy in the Ampan sea area of Nagar Kovil, Jaffna on 05th June 2024, led to the apprehension of 02 suspects and a dinghy loaded with over 70kg (wet weight) of Kerala cannabis.

Smuggled stock of agrochemicals held in Kalpitiya
A coordinated search operation by the Navy in the dark hours of 04th June 2024, supported by air surveillance from the Sri Lanka Air Force, resulted in the discovery of a cache of agrochemical suspected to have been smuggled into the country, in the beach area of Erambugodella, Ettalai, Kalpitiya.

Navy on the frontlines of flood relief operations
In the face of harsh weather, the Sri Lanka Navy dispatched relief teams to assist communities affected by floods in the Western, Southern, and Sabaragamuwa provinces. These teams have rescued 316 individuals in districts such as Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Rathnapura, Galle, and Matara as of this morning (05th June 2024). Furthermore, the Navy has provided boat transportation for over 2,700 people to access essential services.

Navy divers retrieve Rs. 30 million ADCP instrument beneath Hanwella bridge
A successful salvage mission conducted by Navy divers today (04th June 2024) led to the recovery of an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) instrument from beneath Hanwella bridge. Amidst torrential rainfall, this valuable device worth Rs. 30 million, owned by the Department of Irrigation, was carried away by the surging waters of the Kelani River. The device ultimately became entangled in dense bamboo sticks and river debris.

Over 1832kg of smuggled Tendu leaves recovered in Kalpitiya
A search operation conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy in the Ettalai area of Bangalawatta, Kalpitiya on 03rd June 2024, led to the recovery of over 1832kg (wet weight) of Tendu leaves. It is believed the consignment of Tendu leaves was smuggled into the country and hidden in the area.
