Navy foils gold smuggling attempt and nabs 02 suspects

In a coordinated operation conducted this morning (09 Mar 26), the Sri Lanka Navy and the Coast Guard apprehended 02 suspects attempting to smuggle 06kg and 865g of gold into the country. Acting upon credible information, the operation was launched in the territorial waters off Kankesanthurai, Jaffna, leading to the interception of the dinghy used for this illegal act.

Meanwhile, the suspects held in this operation have been identified as residents of Madagal, Jaffna, aged 41 and 49. The 02 suspects, gold and the dinghy handed over to the Customs sub preventive Office, Kankasanthurei, Jaffna for onward legal action.
