Navy takes hold of approx. 621kg of Kendu leaves from Negombo seas

The Sri Lanka Navy took hold of about 621kg of Kendu leaves, during a search operation carried out in the sea area off Negombo on 12 Jan 26.

During this operation, the Western Naval Command deployed a craft and located sixteen (16) abandoned sacks in the waters off Negombo. Upon inspection, approximately 621kg of Kendu leaves, intended for smuggling into the country, were discovered and taken into naval custody.

Meanwhile, the seized consignment of Kendu leaves was handed over to the Customs Preventive Office of Colombo Port for subsequent investigation and necessary legal action.
