Joint operation nets prescription drugs and 04 suspects in Jaffna

In a coordinated operation, the Sri Lanka Navy and the Jaffna Police Special Task Force (STF) arrested four (04) individuals in possession of a significant quantity of prescription drugs (860) on 05 Jan 26 in the Central Bus Stand of Jaffna and Nayanmarkattu area of the Kayts Island.

Acting on information received by SLNS Kanchadewa of the Northern Naval Command, this search operation was mounted with the STF Jaffna. The operation resulted in the arrest the 04 suspects, along with 860 tablets of prescription drugs, intended for sale, and one (01) motorcycle.

The suspects held in this operation were identified as residents of Ottamadam, Sankani, Nallur, and Koiyathodimum areas in Jaffna, aged between 22 and 29. The suspects, the seized prescription drugs and the motorcycle were handed over to the Jaffna Police Station for onward legal proceedings.
