Sri Lanka Navy thwarts insecticide smuggling attempt in Puttalam

In an operation underscoring its commitment to maritime security, the Sri Lanka Navy intercepted a dinghy and seized a cache of smuggled insecticide on 20 Nov 25 in the sea area of Karathivu, Puttalam.

The Sri Lanka Navy is vigilantly monitoring and conducting operations to curb illegal activities taking place in its sea and coastal territories.

The search operation was conducted by naval personnel from the Rapid Action Boats Squadron (RABS) Headquarters belonging to the Northwestern Naval Command. Upon interception of a suspicious dinghy (01) in the sea area of Karathivu, 13 sacks of insecticide were taken into naval custody.

The seized dinghy together with the cache of smuggled insecticide were handed over to the Customs Preventive Office in Katunayake for onward legal proceedings.
