In separate operations conducted by the Navy in coordination with the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources from 23 to 31 Jul 25, twenty-two (22) individuals involved in various illegal fishing activities were apprehended along with 05 dinghies in multiple locations across the island. Additionally, 01 person with 210 unauthorized fishing nets were nabbed during another operation conducted with the Police.

A search operation conducted by the Navy on 29 Jul 25 led to the seizure of a dinghy with a consignment of Kendu leaves, attempted to be smuggled, approx. 583kg, at the Negombo Fisheries Harbour.
