Navy nabs 02 suspects with commercial explosives in Nilaveli

A search operation mounted by the Navy in the Red Rock beach area of Nilaveli, Trincomalee on 12 Jul 25 resulted in the apprehension of 02 suspects with commercial explosives and seizure of a motorbike.

The operation was conducted by SLNS Vijayaba in the Eastern Naval Command, leading to the search of 02 persons on a motorbike, on suspicion. The search resulted in the recovery of 11 water gel sticks, a type of commercial explosive, carried by the individuals for illegal fishing. Accordingly, the suspects, the explosive items and the motorbike were taken into naval custody.

The suspects held in this operation were identified as residents of Nilaveli in Trincomalee, aged 45 and 49. The suspects together with the explosive items and the motorbike were handed over to the Kuchchaveli Police for legal action.
