Navy intercepts 02 dinghies with 1314kg of Kendu leaves, smuggled goods and 04 suspects in Mannar

In an operation on 06 Jun 25, the Sri Lanka Navy in the Nadukkuda sea area of Mannar, led to the apprehension of 04 suspects and seizure of 02 dinghies loaded with around 1,314kg of smuggled Kendu leaves and other items, attempting to smuggle into the country.

The operation, carried out by SLNS Gajaba in the North Central Naval Command detected 02 suspicious dinghies heading towards the shore near Nadukkuda. Upon inspection, naval personnel discovered the stock of smuggled goods and apprehended the 04 individuals involved, along with the 02 dinghies used for this illegal act.

The apprehended suspects were identified as residents of Kalpitiya area. Those individuals together with the dinghies and smuggled items were handed over to the office of Excise Department in Mannar for onward legal action.
