Secret stash of Kendu leaves recovered from van in Puttalam

In a joint operation on the night of 05 Jun 25, the Sri Lanka Navy and Police intercepted a van in Thillayadi, Puttalam, seizing approximately 386kg of Kendu leaves, believed to have been smuggled into the country, and a van used for this racket.

The coordinated effort, led by SLNS Thambapanni of the Northwestern Naval Command alongside Puttalam Police, involved the inspection of the suspicious vehicle, leading to the discovery of the stock of Kendu leaves.

The seized stock of Kendu leaves and the van were handed over to the Puttalam Police for onward legal proceedings.
