Two (02) suspects held with cannabis

Separate operations conducted by the Navy in Kalpitiya and in Padiyathalawa, with the assistance of Police on 23 and 24 Apr 25 led to the arrest of 02 suspects with about 751g of Kerala cannabis and 01kg and 95g of local cannabis made ready to sell, and seizure of a three-wheeler.

Based on information received by the Navy, SLNS Vijaya in the Northwestern Naval Command apprehended a suspect with approx. 751g of Kerala cannabis prepared for sale, during an operation conducted in Kalpitiya on 23 Apr. In the same vein, SLNS Deegayu in the Southeastern Naval Command conducted a coordinated search with the Ampara Police in Padiyathalawa on 24 Apr and arrested another suspect with about 01kg and 95g of local cannabis and seized a three-wheeler.

The suspects held in these operations were identified as residents of Talaimannar and Padiyathalawa, aged 25 and 27. The suspects together with cannabis and the three-wheeler were handed over to the Kalpitiya and Padiyathalawa Police stations for legal action.
