A suspect nabbed with 600 foreign fags in Trincomalee

A coordinated search operation conducted by the Navy and Police on 22 Apr 25 at the Anuradhapura Junction of Trincomalee led to the arrest of a suspect and seizure of 600 foreign cigarettes prepared for sale.

The search operation was carried out by the SLN Dockyard and the Trincomalee Harbour Police, based on credible information received by the Eastern Naval Command. In the snap inspection carried out at the Anuradhapura Junction, the suspect was collared with 600 foreign cigarettes, made ready for sale.

The suspect held in this operation was identified as a resident of Trincomalee, aged 38. The suspect together with foreign cigarettes were handed over to the Trincomalee Harbour Police for onward legal action.
