Navy conducts flood relief duties in Panama

In response to the flood situation in the Panama area caused by heavy rainfall, the Sri Lanka Navy has been promptly engaged in flood relief operations since 03 Mar 25. These efforts, carried out in collaboration with the Disaster Management Centre, the Army, and the Police, continue uninterrupted to assist affected residents.

Due to the prevailing flood situation in the Panama area of the Ampara District, several roads have been submerged, disrupting public transportation. In response, naval personnel from the Southeastern Naval Command, are engaged in disaster relief efforts. Working in collaboration with the Disaster Management Center, the Sri Lanka Army, and other relevant agencies, naval personnel are assisting in transportation and distributing meals and essential supplies to affected communities.

Additionally, the Navy in collaboration with other agencies, facilitated the safe transportation of 178 individuals, on 03 Mar.
