A suspect with Kerala cannabis held in Mannar

A coordinated search operation conducted by the Navy and Divisional Crime Detective Bureau, Mannar in the Aluth Palama area, Mannar on 18th November 2024 led to the apprehension of a suspect with about 4kg and 248g of Kerala cannabis and a motorcycle.

A search operation was conducted by SLNS Gajaba in the North Central Naval Command in collaboration with the Divisional Crime Detective Bureau in Aluth Palama area. During the operation, the search party intercepted a suspicious motorcycle, discovering approximately 4kg and 248g of Kerala cannabis being peddled. Consequently, the motorcycle, the suspect, and the cannabis were held.

The gross street value of Kerala cannabis held in this operation is believed to be one million six hundred thousand rupees (Rs. 1,600,000).

The suspect held in this operation is a resident of Mannar, aged 37. The suspect, together with Kerala cannabis and motorcycle, was handed over to the Mannar Police for onward legal proceedings.
